Our Quick Pic Book series shows the subjects in extensive black & white
photographs which have often been digitally edited to best exhibit the details.

The KCS GP40-2 and -3 locomotives have a varied ancestry. While some were
purpose built for the KCS, many came secondhand from the Penn Central, the
Canadian National, and many others. The KCS operated at one time locomotives
in this class from over 16 other railroads so there are many detail differences throughout. The major ones are shown in this book in detail. One of the most
noticeable detail on them is the wide cab style which is now the norm.

The details inside show the different units with variations on the
Dynamic Brake, radiator screens, cabs, plows radiator fans, light locations,
styles of handbrake lever/wheels and locations of them, and many others.
There is a chapter devoted to the cab interior of one of the units to fully detail it.
