Railway Post Office   Mail and Baggage #60
(also in this class 54, 65, 66, 119, & 122)

Our Quick Pic Book series shows the subjects in extensive black & white photographs which have often been digitally edited to best exhibit the details.

This volume shows all the details on these cars including the trucks & underframe
and details on both larger doors and the mail area of the exterior of the car.
Due to postal regulation changes because of the deaths of so many mail clerks
in wrecks, the Postmaster general required all Railway Post Office Cars to
have heavily reinforced ends. On many cars this was done by attaching 5
lengths of rail vertically on the carbody from sill to roofline. That was the
case with these cars and those rails shows up in the photos of both ends.
Though this car is on display sitting on Arch Bar trucks, photos of the
correct type of D&RGW passenger trucks are shown in that chapter.

It is part of the collection at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO.
