Our Quick Pic Book series shows the subjects in extensive black & white
photographs which have often been digitally edited to best exhibit the details.

The Rock Island E-6A units came onto the property in 1941 and headed up
many of the name Rocket passenger trains until the end of passenger service
on the road. At that time they entered the motive power pool and were used
on freights until the end of the Rock Island being a separate railroad.

This book shows all the details all the way around this unit as well as on
top. It also includes the cab interior of E-8A locomotive 652 as they
are essentially identical between the two units. It shows the trucks
and underframe and one of the major spotting features of these
locomotives the difference between chicken wire grills and Farr grills.
