The water beneath the tracks on these bridges range from just a couple of feet to well over 100' above normal water level. Because they are located in many different areas, they have benefited from a wide variety of climate & maintenance so there are many weathering opportunities for anyone modeling a bridge, even for a Class 1 road.
Also there are a number of details that can only been seen from the tracks.
Crossing the bridges which are shown and mentioned in the captions help
the reader understand the importance of differences that existed.
The abutments and piers shown in here range across many different materials
from Cut Stone to Concrete to Cross ties. Each of these materials weather differently and special aspects are shown and explained where necessary.
