The trains the Pennsylvania Railroad ran throughout the US in the late 1930's
were among some of the most prestigious trains in the world. The Pennsy had
an ongoing PR battle with the New York Central for the same passengers so it
was common for trains to be named, even if they were to be pulled by a steam locomotive and not one of the streamlined diesels or electrics. Advertised timetable schedules put them in direct competition for the express, mail, and passengers..
This book contains the consists for areas outside those serviced
directly by one of the big 3 cities of NY, Washington DC, and New York.
This book has 83 pages of the consists straight from the Pennsy.
Below are some sample pages from the book.
